My summer experience with TurnUp, funded by Career Services, was a great way to get involved with a political nonprofit and learn more about what I want to do as I continue my career. Throughout my internship, I conducted research on a variety of social justice issues, focusing on the intersectionality of homelessness across the United States and practiced communicating these issues in a variety of ways within my team. I was also involved in progressive movements that encourage voter participation and civic engagement. My internship helped me become more accustomed to the professional sphere, specifically in politics, and has already informed many of my decisions about future courses at Swarthmore and potential internships and jobs in the future, and without the funding opportunity through Career Services, I would not have had the chance to have the same experience.
