We are excited to welcome you to campus!
You may or may not be thinking “Career?! I am just getting started with college!” We just want to say hi and offer ourselves as a resource early on in your college journey. We have decided to offer special appointments to ALL incoming first year students to meet with our dedicated first year advising team.
Meet with a first year career advisor to have a personalized and tailored conversation about:
- Turning high school experiences into college success
- Exploring your interests & cultivating resume building skills from campus experiences
- Making the most of your first year experience at Swarthmore
- and more!!
“What are my options to meet with a career advisor?”
We are offering two formats to chat with a career advisor:
20 minute individual appointments
30 minute group appointment with limited spaces
“Great, how do I sign up?”
Starting [INCLUDE DATE], you will be able to log in using your single sign-on to Handshake, our all-in-one platform that we use at Career Services. Once you activate your account, you’ll be to schedule your one-on-one session, view upcoming events, look for jobs and internships, and connect with employers.
When you go to Handshake, you will want to be sure to sign in through Single Sign On (see image below).
Meet your dedicated first year advising team.
You will have the option to sign up for one-on-one individualized appointments with any of the following dedicated first year advisors:
Scheduling an individualized appointment:
Once you are on Handshake, you will be able to make an appointment by starting at the left-hand menu and follow this path:
Career Center >> Appointments >> Schedule New Appointment >> First Year >> Introductory Appointment
Signing up for group appointments:
Prefer a group setting over one-one-one? Starting July 7th, you will be able to sign up on a first come, first serve basis in Handshake for any of the following 30-minute group advising appointments for incoming first year students listed below. Spaces limited, advanced registration required:
- Friday, August 1 – 11:00 am EST
- Thursday, August 7 – 3:00 pm EST
- Friday, August 8 – 10:00 am EST
- Tuesday, August 19 – 7:00 pm EST
- Wednesday, August 20 – 12:00 pm EST
- Thursday, August 21 – 10 am EST
