Laboratory Technician (entry level) – Eurofins Environment Testing – North Kingstown, RI

Company Description

Job Description

The Laboratory Technician I, using general laboratory methods, techniques, equipment, and instrumentation in compliance with Eurofins Environment Testing America’s Quality Assurance programs and standard operating procedures, supports laboratory operations through general maintenance of laboratory and supply storage areas, equipment, instruments, and supplies.

Full-time entry level position Monday – Friday 12:30pm- 9:00pm Candidates living within a commutable distance of North Kingstown, RI are encouraged to apply. Compensation $18-20/hour (depends on experience) plus eligible for benefits

This is an entry level position, those looking to gain experience in a laboratory setting without a 4 year degree encouraged to apply.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Retrieving samples from Sample Control for analysis.
  • Performing sample preparation which may include, but is not limited to, a combination of the following methods:
  • Aliquot samples
  • Spike and trace samples
  • Prepare reagents
  • Bottle samples
  • Prepare concentrations
  • Separation
  • Sonication
  • Liquid rack set up
  • Resolving discrepancies and anomalies to ensure samples are properly labeled.
  • Preparing general laboratory paperwork such as recording analysis results, tracking samples, bench sheets, and laboratory logbooks.
  • Washing laboratory glassware to prepare for next day’s samples.
  • Stocking laboratory supplies.
  • Cleaning work area(s) to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Assisting other laboratory areas as needed.

The ideal candidate would possess:

Comfortable with a fast paced time sensitive laboratory

Ability to use calculator/mathematical formulas and concepts

Ability to use TALS

Ability to complete work within time and quality constraints

Can work independently following written or verbal instructions

Cooperate and coordinate both orally and in writing

Able to follow and learn appropriate protocols in one or more of the following disciplines:

  • Organic preparation
  • Metals preparation and analysis
  • Gas Chromatography
  • Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry
  • Radio Chemistry
  • Wet Chemistry
  • High Resolution preparation and analysis
  • Low Resolution preparation and analysis

Basic Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • High school Chemistry coursework preferred.
  • Basic laboratory experience preferred
  • Previous production-oriented work helpful (awareness and ability to meet deadlines)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Samples will be in coolers packed in ice.
  • Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
