Publisher Public Relations Specialist

Blue Byron Books is a modern publishing collective redefining American culture and ideas by amplifying bold, innovative, and imaginative voices.

We are a technology-forward, digitally native publishing house built by Millennials and Gen Z — creating books, ideas, and cultural projects that matter now. We operate as a collaborative collective of writers, designers, editors, and creators working together to build something meaningful and lasting.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Public Relations Specialist who can advocate for our authors, our books, and our vision — and help bring Blue Byron Books into wider cultural awareness.

This role is focused on proactive outreach, not passive posting.

A key priority is securing speaking engagements and workshop opportunities at colleges and universities for our lead creators — creating both awareness and revenue to fuel our mission.

What You’ll Do

  • Reach out to colleges, universities, and organizations to secure speaking opportunities and workshops
  • Pitch Blue Byron Books, its authors, and its cultural vision to press, media, and institutions
  • Build relationships with professors, student organizations, and event coordinators
  • Actively advocate for our work — via email, phone, and direct outreach
  • Identify opportunities to expand awareness and cultural presence

Compensation

  • Unpaid internship with 15% commission on speaking/workshop fees you secure
  • Opportunity to gain hands-on experience in outreach, publishing, creator partnerships, and audience growth within an early-stage creative collective

Who You Are

  • Not afraid to reach out, follow up, and get on the phone
  • Proactive — you don’t wait for responses, you create opportunities
  • Strong communicator with confidence and clarity
  • Hungry, driven, and excited to build something meaningful
  • Interested in publishing, culture, and the future of ideas

You don’t need years of experience — but you do need conviction, initiative, and follow-through.

How We Work

  • Remote, collaborative, and fast-moving
  • We give green lights — not micromanagement
  • We value initiative, accountability, and execution
  • We are building long-term partnerships, not one-off gigs

Why Join Blue Byron Books

  • Be part of a growing publishing house and cultural movement
  • Work directly with creators shaping modern ideas and storytelling
  • Gain real-world experience in publishing, media, and outreach
  • Help bring meaningful work into the world
