Kelly Dougherty: Thanks so much for joining us, Kyle. I know the Swat community always enjoys hearing from alumni. Tell us a little bit about what you’ve been up to!

Kyle Lee: Sure! I graduated from Swarthmore in 2022, and I have been working at L.E.K. Consulting. I’m currently a Senior Associate.

KD: Can you tell our students a little bit about what L.E.K. does, and more specifically what associates do?

KL: Yes! L.E.K. Consulting is a global strategy consulting firm that helps leading companies grow their business organically (growth strategy) or inorganically (mergers & acquisitions).  L.E.K. has presence in the U.S., LATAM, APAC, and Europe and serves a variety of industries including Life Sciences, Healthcare Services, Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services, and Technology, Media & Telecommunications. Associates work on small teams of 3-5 to help clients make decisions at turning points for their organizations such as the launch of a new product, expansion into a new market, or acquisition of another business.

KD: What’s been the best part about working at L.E.K. for you so far?

KL: I really appreciate the limited travel and remote work flexibility. It lets staff balance responsibilities in their daily life and relationships with work. The Associate career path also offers exceptional career progression speed, professional growth, and opportunity to help shape business decisions which make headlines. New hires can look forward to gaining hard skills (analysis, financial modeling, statistics) and soft skills (client management, public speaking) which will position you well for any long-term path you choose.

KD: What types of positions does L.E.K recruit for?

KL: L.E.K. recruits for full-time associate positions in Houston, Boston, New York, LA, San Francisco, Atlanta, and Chicago.

KD: Is there a specific timeline?

KL: Yes. So students would apply the summer before their senior year to start the summer after their senior year. For instance, from June-August 2024, we will be recruiting for full-time positions starting in summer 2025

KD: Can you tell us a little bit about the infinity groups implemented at L.E.K to help promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion?

KL: Yes. We have MOSAIC@LEK (ethnic affinity subgroups), Pride@LEK, Parents@LEK, Women@LEK, and AIDA (international diversity subgroups). L.E.K also offers a mentorship program where new hires are assigned a career coach and an Associate welcome buddy. There is also a 2-month period to shadow another associate on live case work

KD: This all sounds like great information! If students have any more question, who can they follow up with?

KL: They can contact me (ky.lee@lek.com – Kyle Lee, Senior Associate (Boston))

We were so happy to have Kyle take the time to answer our questions and introduce you to L.E.K Consulting. Kyle has consistently been one of the alums who is very giving of his time! From partaking in any event he can to hosting coffee chats with our students. He is always happy to connect with current Swatties to talk about their journeys and answer any questions they have about L.E.K. or consulting!

We look forward to seeing Kyle again soon!
