Casual Fridays with Aegis Property Group

This week we are bringing you an exclusive about a summer internship happening right here at Swarthmore! I am joined by Julia Stoltfus from Aegis Property Group. Aegis is a project management group that provides representation through all phases of project development including pre-project planning, master planning, design, and construction.

If this name and logo looks familiar to you, it’s because they are the team responsible for many of the large construction projects (past and present) right on Swarthmore’s campus. They have been an instrumental player in the “To Zero by Thirty-Five” initiative on campus.

I’m excited to have Julia with us to talk about an incredible opportunity they have for students coming up this summer. Enjoy!

Kelly Dougherty: Hi Julia! Thanks so much for being here. Please introduce yourself to our community.

Julia Stotzfus: Hello! I’m Julia Stoltzfus, and I am the Assistant Development Manager for Aegis Property Group.

KD: I know you have a really exciting opportunity open for students still seeking internships for this summer (2024). Can you tell us a little about it?

JS: This summer we are looking to hire 2 interns to work on our team right here on Swarthmore’s campus. We will be hiring a project management intern as well as a marketing intern.

KD: Amazing! What can students expect from each of these experiences?

JS: For the project management intern, they will be working on projects in and around Swarthmore’s Campus. They’ll obtain hands-on experience with projects involved in the 20X35 plan. Overall, they’ll get to experience a variety of projects in different phases of construction. The marketing internship will focus on communication, content creation, research and planning of marketing initiatives, and playing a hands-on role in positioning and storytelling.

KD: These sound great. Are they open to all students, and when do you recruit?

JS: We prefer juniors and above but will consider sophomores as well. Our recruiting is happening now, and all applications will be due by March 15th, 2024.

KD: Can you talk a little bit more about the culture at Aegis? How is Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion reflected in professional development?

JS: Professional development is not one-size-fits-all at our organization. Aegis understands that individuals have unique aspirations and learning styles, which is why at Aegis we are encouraged to pursue professional development that is within our individual interests. Whether it’s leadership training, technical skills workshops, or cultural competency seminars, Aegis invests in each person’s professional growth.

KD: And what would you say your favorite part about working at Aegis is?

JS: I love that every day I get to do something different. I can never answer the question “what’s a typical day like for you?” because each day I am working on different aspects of a wide variety of projects.

KD: Who can students contact for more information?

JS: They can email me personally at jstoltzfus@aegispg.com, and to apply to our internships they can send their application materials to internship@aegispg.com

Another amazing benefit to this opportunity with Aegis this summer is that these are paid internships. In addition to $18/hr, the interns will also be reimbursed for on-campus housing!  See below for more details on each internship and how to apply.
