Social Media Manager — Big Monster Studio & Projects

Big Monster Studio LLC is a Chicago-based creative studio working across film production, post-production, branded content, events, and original storytelling.

We are looking for a part-time Social Media Manager to help us manage and grow the social presence of Big Monster Studio and the individual creative projects produced under the BMS umbrella.

About the Role

This is not a position dedicated to only one film or project. We are building a connected social media ecosystem where the Big Monster Studio account serves as the main studio/parent account, while individual films and productions may have their own social media accounts.

Many posts are collaborative between BMS and our individual projects, so we are looking for one person who can oversee and coordinate these accounts together.

You will work primarily with BMS co-founder Luisa Bott and Production & Operations Coordinator Paul Boeckelmann. We will provide project information, assets, upcoming announcements, priorities, and creative direction. Your job will be to help turn that information into an organized and consistent social media presence.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and help grow the main Big Monster Studio social media account
  • Manage and coordinate social media for active BMS film/project accounts
  • Maintain a master content calendar across BMS and its projects
  • Create, write, prepare, and schedule posts
  • Coordinate collaborative posts between BMS and project accounts
  • Organize provided photos, videos, BTS material, posters, graphics, and other social assets
  • Write captions and select appropriate tags/hashtags
  • Properly tag and credit cast, crew, collaborators, organizations, and partners
  • Help promote production updates, BTS, screenings, festivals, awards, releases, casting calls, studio news, and other announcements
  • Adapt content to the identity of each individual project while maintaining consistency with the overall BMS brand
  • Help identify opportunities to reuse or adapt content across accounts rather than unnecessarily duplicating work
  • Communicate with the BMS team about upcoming content needs and deadlines
  • Help us develop a sustainable social media workflow as the studio grows

What We’re Looking For

We’re especially interested in someone who:

  • Understands Instagram and social media content strategy
  • Is organized and comfortable managing multiple accounts/projects
  • Has strong written communication and caption-writing skills
  • Has a good visual eye
  • Is interested in film, media, entertainment, marketing, or the creative industries
  • Understands that different films/projects need their own identities and audiences
  • Can work independently once priorities and assets are provided
  • Is reliable about deadlines and communication
  • Is comfortable collaborating with a small creative team
  • Wants to grow with an emerging creative studio

Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, CapCut, Meta Business Suite, or similar tools is a plus, but we are open to candidates who are still building professional experience.

Hours & Structure

5–10 hours per week to start
Hourly paid contract position
Chicago-based studio; much of the social media work can be performed remotely

Weekly priorities will change depending on what is happening across BMS. For example, one film may be preparing for a festival while another is in production and BMS has a studio announcement. We do not expect every project account to receive the same amount of content every week.

Instead, we’re looking for someone who can understand the full BMS project portfolio and focus their time on whichever accounts are currently the highest priority.

There is potential for the role and hours to grow as Big Monster Studio and our projects grow.

How to Apply

Please submit:

  • A short introduction and why you’re interested in the role
  • Your resume
  • Examples of social media accounts, posts, campaigns, or content you’ve created or managed, if available
  • A portfolio or website, if applicable
  • Your availability
  • A brief answer to this question:

“How would you approach managing one main studio account alongside several individual film/project accounts that frequently collaborate with the main account?”
