Rabble Commercial Manager

Brooklyn, NYC | In-Person | Contract

Hi, we’re Rabble. No matter your age, we believe we all need moments where we can let down our guard, be a little silly, and connect with the people around us.

That’s why we create games that not only inspire more play, but also show how play enriches our lives. Our games range from party games, to games that promote mental health, to cozy strategy games. As we grow, we’re looking to expand our small team.

About The Role

We’re looking to hire a Commercial Manager to grow Rabble’s audience and our sales channels. Your main focus will be building relationships with content creators, growing our retail and licensing partnerships, leading our presence at conventions, owning our social channels, and expanding our community of players.

We’re a small team, so we are looking for someone who is flexible and eager to learn, and also willing to jump into other parts of the business. Some weeks may be heavy on sales and marketing, but other weeks may involve jumping into a playtest, helping proofread rules, or even taking over parts of logistics. You’ll work directly with our two co-founders, and our goal is to grow and evolve the role as the company grows.

Right now this is a three-month contract. For the right fit there is an opportunity this can turn into a longer-term role.

Responsibilities

  • Build lasting relationships with board game reviewers, streamers, and creators, especially around new game launches
  • Support our existing sales relationships, while also driving new sales domestically and internationally
  • Create and manage our social media channels with regular, on-brand posting. This includes creating short-form video content whenever possible.
  • Plan and run our presence at conventions such as Gen Con, PAX Unplugged, and GAMA Expo
  • Lead and grow our community of players across email, Discord, Reddit, Facebook, and other channels. This entails responding to incoming player questions as well as posting broader player-facing communications
  • Help playtest and vet new games
  • Various other projects across functions depending on business needs at the time

Requirements

  • You love board games or have direct game design experience
  • 1-3 years of experience in a sales or marketing role, bonus points if it’s within games
  • Show demonstrable experience communicating and building external relationships, whether that’s with content creators, retailers, a community, or other stakeholders
  • Social media content creation skills with an emphasis on short-form video content where you may be the face/voice of the company. Design (e.g. Photoshop and/or Illustrator) and video editing software (e.g. Premiere or After Effects) is a major plus
  • You’re organized, self-directed, and comfortable managing several threads at once
  • You’re eager to learn. We place a high value on mentorship and growth
  • Flexibility to wear different hats and shift responsibilities as the role and company grows
  • Be present at the office minimum 4 days a week in Dumbo, Brooklyn. Remote will be considered in special cases

Details & Benefits

  • 3-month full-time contract starting at $21/hr, with an opportunity to convert to a permanent role for the right fit
  • Access to GUMBO, a non-profit game collective in DUMBO, Brooklyn
  • Some travel to conventions may be required. Rabble will cover travel and accommodations
  • Free games and early playtests of everything we’re working on
  • A close-up view of how board games come to life, while working with people who value growth and mentorship
  • A meaningful role in shaping a new company from the ground up. As the company grows, we expect the role to grow as well.
