This non-benefited casual position is anticipated to commence in late February and conclude in late May. This position would work 4, 10-hour shifts per week from 5pm-3am (Shifts may be subject to change). Estimated pay is between $18-$19.50 per hour.
Job Summary:
The Campus Safety Security role plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for the college community. This position involves proactive patrolling, building security, event staffing, and providing various assistance services to ensure the overall well-being of students, faculty, and staff.
Essential Functions:
Observation/Community Assistance:
Conduct foot, vehicle, or other types of security details to ensure constant safety of the campus community.
Report any suspicious activities or incidents encountered during details to the officer in charge.
Check and secure campus buildings to prevent crimes and unauthorized access.
Open buildings or rooms as assigned, ensuring security protocols are followed.
Provide escorts and lockouts for members of the College community.
Respond to calls for service providing assistance to sworn staff as required.
Assist with non-emergency medical transports to Cooley Dickinson Hospital or other medical appointments.
Staff college events to maintain a safe environment for attendees.
Help direct outside departments when they are called onto campus for service.
Assist and participate in community engagement activities as assigned.
Communication and Reporting:
Respond to calls for service and report incidents during details.
Inspect and report lighting problems on campus.
Report College policy violations to on-duty Officers.
Policy Adherence:
Become familiar with department policies and procedures.
Maintain an alert and attentive demeanor for the duration of the assigned shift.
Maintain confidentiality of department information, records, reports, and logs.
Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, skills, education, experience, certifications, licenses)
Education: High School Diploma
Experience: Minimum of 1 year in security, safety, or service roles
Must be able to work overnight shifts
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid driver’s license and successful credential in order to operate College vehicles
Must be able to pass a criminal and work background check, and a medical pre-screening.
Preferred
Demonstrated understanding of anti-bias practices
Certification in First Responder training, including CPR, First Aid, Defibrillator, Epi-Pen, and Narcan Administration (preferred)
