Position Summary
The employee is responsible for completing tasks and projects as assigned by engineering. The goal is to introduce the employee to the professional world while still completing value-added tasks. This is a full-time (40 hours per week) summer internship from May to mid-August 2024, based in Maple Grove, MN.
Principal Responsibilities
• Work on value-added engineering projects.
o Example: Design a fixture to make a process more consistent. Use Solidworks to model the fixture and have a prototype created (3D Print, CNC Mill, etc.).
o Example: Create DOEs (Design of Experiments) to determine how physical properties (tensile strength, kink resistance, torque) are changed by altering materials.
• Assist with document changes and learn document change process.
• Participates in overall product development program management including regular meetings and discussions around project priorities and project status updates.
• Prototypes development devices.
• Works closely with technicians and assemblers in the manufacturing of medical devices.
• Follows quality procedures and product documentation during the manufacturing and development process.
• Utilize and understand the Teleflex documentation system.
• Capable of creating validation protocols including IQ, OQ, and PQ.
• Assist with problem-solving and root-cause analysis.
• Collect, process and analyze data.
• Other duties as assigned.
Education / Experience Requirements
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Candidates must be currently enrolled in an Engineering Bachelor’s degree program.
• Upperclassmen level preferred.
• Previous internship experience preferred.
Specialized Skills / Other Requirements
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and ask questions.
• Ability to collaborate with others.
• Ability to problem solve and work independently.
